From November 28 to December 2, 2022, the II Complutense International Congress of East Asia will take place at the Complutense University of Madrid, entitled Supernatural Asia: religion, ritual and folklore in Asia.
In this context, the researcher in training Manuel Mayo participates in a table on rituality in Japan with a presentation entitled “ Ἄρκτος, ḫartak(k)a, bjǫrn, matu and kamui: the sacred bear. A shamanic link between Indo-European and Asian religions”. The work will focus on raising the differences and similarities between Indo-European and Asian cults dedicated to the bear, using shamanism and religious zoomorphism as a meeting point between two apparently different worldviews.
